What do you do?
We are a Kansas
City based company that provides confidential peer counseling support to
those in need. We're here to help people with their problems. "We're
trying to save people and planet, one at a time." Dave,
President.
What is a peer
counselor?
A peer counselor is
simply someone who counsels or listens to people and
their problems and gives their advise. Peer
counselors are individuals like yourself who may
have gone through some of the same problems and
issues and just want to help others.
What kind of
services do you offer?
We offer many of the
basic services most
counselors offer including confidential counseling
for personal to professional problems.
What are your
typical rates?
We have a standard
hourly rates for basic services, but apply various
discounts including prepay and bulk discounts.
This may come in the form of prepaid tokens,
prepaid retainers, or contracts with a minimum
weekly billable time. Our counselors rates are typically $30-$40/hr for
basic peer counseling services. You will be
notified if any of your requests will exceed
the standard fees before those services are
rendered.
Do you accept health
insurance?
No, not
at this time. Most insurance companies usually
require a deductible or office visit charge for each
session. We've simply tried to price our services to
this standard office visit charge so the cost to
individuals would be similar either way.
Are you a
professional counseling or psychotherapy service?
No, neither. Those
types of services are provided by professionally
licensed individuals with intensive training and/or
education. We’re
more of a peer-type of counseling service offering
basic services at a more affordable rate.
Are our counseling
sessions private?
Yes. We adhere to a strict
confidentiality policy. However, there are a few situations
such as a court order, or if there's real potential for the
client to harm themselves or others where we may be required
to report our findings to a professional.
Why use a peer
counselor?
There are many reasons you might
want to use a peer counselor instead of or in
additional to professional counseling or
psychotherapy such as potentially more relaxed
environment, counselors ability to relate to the
issues, or affordability for low income individuals.
Who can use peer
counselor?
Almost anyone can use
peer counseling either by itself for minor issues or
in addition to professional therapy for more serious
issues.
